What we are thankful for this year at Thanksgiving

1569The year is nearing its end, and it’s been a fantastic year at that. Here at SouthStar Communities, there are so many things we have to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.

We’ve had a record year at Vintage Oaks in New Braunfels and King Oaks in Bryan-College Station. In both communities, we have continued to release new properties throughout the year to meet buyer demand.

In addition to Vintage Oaks’ record homesite sales, the New Braunfels masterplan also had a record year for home starts. The community led the San Antonio market again with 22 new home starts in Q3 and 75 home starts year to date. This is 20 percent higher than Vintage Oaks’ record-setting numbers from 2013. Vintage Oaks also ranks No. 1 in Comal County for home starts in the $300s with 155 new homesite sales so far this year.

The Reserve at Vintage Oaks was also launched this year to meet the needs of buyers seeking a home-lot package and the opportunity to choose from a pre-selected floorplan from two of the nation’s most respected homebuilders and move into the community even sooner. We’re pleased to see the community has been well received, and we look forward to welcoming several homeowners into their newly completed Reserve homes in December.

King Oaks continued its reign as Aggieland’s favorite community in 2014 with incredible sales from families, pre-retirees, retirees, and Aggies. We also opened a brand-new amenity center at King Oaks this year, giving residents yet another on-site outlet for recreation and relaxation.

A Proud Legacy on The SouthSide

This year the SouthStar family of companies acquired Mission del Lago, an 800-acre masterplanned community in Southside San Antonio, and have spent the last several months completing on-site improvements and getting to know the friendly and welcoming residents. We are thrilled to be involved in the proud SouthSide area and to be a part of the revitalization that continues to make it an exciting and desirable place to live and raise a family. In the year to come, we look forward to greeting new homebuyers, introducing additional improvements, and instilling even more pride in this wonderful community.

This year, SouthStar Communities also extended our relationship with Operation FINALLY HOME (OFH) to provide mortgage-free homes to selected wounded veterans and their families. In 2014, we welcomed Army Specialist Cody Nusbaum to Vintage Oaks, Sgt. Monte Bernardo to King Oaks, and Marine Sgt. Ken Kalish to Lake Ridge between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Our partnership with OFH is deeply satisfying; there aren’t many experiences in the world that are better than seeing veterans learn they have been chosen to receive a home and then move in and start their lives anew in one of our communities. It’s an absolute privilege to be involved, and we are looking forward to continuing our commitment next year. We will be making an announcement soon about our next mortgage-free home at Vintage Oaks for a worthy veteran.

Making Dreams Come True

What makes us most thankful is the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives by helping them make a dream come true. Every time a new buyer purchases a piece of Texas land or a home in one of our communities, we add to our family. Nothing could make us happier. We are so thankful to be able to do what we do everyday. How can you not love being the harbinger of dreams?

To all of our landbuyers, homebuyers, landowners, homeowners, and residents, as well as our partners, builders, vendors, and everyone we have had a chance to work with this year, we say thank you. Keep dreaming. And have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
