Master-planned community amenities aren’t just a nice thing to have at home today; they are essential for many buyers and can even drive a new-home purchase in a specific community. As leaders in master-planned development over the past two decades, SouthStar Communities remains committed to well-rounded communities where the lifestyle opportunities are just as important as the homes. To that end, we are proud to announce new amenities at Mission del Lago in San Antonio and The Crossings in New Braunfels.
“One important thing to keep in mind when looking for a new home is how you can add value to your investment and that’s exactly what homebuilders aim to do by offering a variety of amenities in their new-home communities — not to mention you get the added benefit of simply being able to use them any time you want,” said NewHomeSource.
They noted a study by real estate advising company Robert Charles Lesser & Co., which found that “homebuyers are increasingly looking for green space and trail systems for walking, running and biking.” Outdoor, resort-style pools were No. 4 on their list of desirable community amenities. In Texas, this important amenity often tops the list, which is why it has been the focus of SouthStar’s new amenities at Mission del Lago and The Crossings.
The Mission del Lago pool celebrated its Grand Opening on February 18 and will be open for daily use starting in May, allowing Mission del Lago homeowners to also enjoy the:
- Clubhouse, which can be rented by residents for private events
- Catering kitchen
- Expansive pool deck
- Grilling areas
- Tot lot
The pool joins existing Mission del Lago amenities including the Alamo City Golf Trail’s Mission del Lago Golf Course, an 18-hole Championship Golf Course that meanders through the different neighborhoods. There is also a large practice green, chipping course, and driving range.
There are also two on-site community parks at Mission del Lago:
Jim Mattox Park—Located just behind the golf clubhouse, Jim Mattox Park includes a tennis court, picnic tables and grills for community gatherings, plus a new trail head for the expanded Medina River Trail. At the end of 2016, a new path connected the park to Pleasanton Road. Construction this year will connect the Pleasanton trailhead to a new extension of the Medina River Preserve greenway at Palo Alto Road; this will eventually connect the Mattox trailhead to the Mission Reach-River Walk trail at San Francisco de la Espada Mission.
Julian C Gallardo Elementary School Park and Playground—Part of Julian C Gallardo Elementary School, located at the front of Mission del Lago, the park offers a shaded playground and playing fields.
Amenities are underway at The Crossings, SouthStar’s newest community, located in fast-growing New Braunfels. Catering to young families and those who want to enjoy the community’s ideal location close to Austin, San Antonio, and all the best of the Hill Country, The Crossings offers two neighborhoods of new single-family homes from Lennar and homesites that each back to open space.
Amenities will further extend the desirability of this popular Texas masterplanned community. The family pool, shaded pool deck, and poolside picnic areas are almost done and set to make a splash this summer. Also in the works are grassy play areas throughout the community that will offer the most open/green space of any comparable community in the area, and community trails that homeowners can use for family walks, biking, or running.
