10 things to do in New Braunfels this weekend

Oldest dance hall in the nation.

Looking for all the best New Braunfels events this weekend? Check out our list of 10 things to do in New Braunfels this weekend and get ready for a great time and a busy few days!

Get a head start on the weekend and head over to the Landa Park Dance Slab for live dancing in the park this Thursday from 7:30 to 10pm! This favorite local event has been going on for more than 25 years, with live musicians supplying the sounds and families, couples and friends reveling in the fun. This week, Grissom & Hill will be playing their original brand of live rock. Bonus: it’s free!

While you’re at Landa Park, check out one of the gems of New Braunfels, with majestic oak trees, hiking trails, paddle boats, fishing, swimming, and pavilions.

Catch respected country-soul-rock artist Junior Brown at Gruene Hall Friday night at 8pm and see him play his twin-necked “guit-steel,” a steel-and-electric-guitar combo he refers to as “Big Red.” Tickets sold out? Check out one of the other upcoming shows at the famed Gruene Hall.

Get out early Saturday and head over to New Braunfels’ Farm to Market, open from 9am to 1pm. Fresh produce, dairy, meat, artisan goods and housewares mix with live music for a lively time for the whole family.

Pack up the kids and head over to the railroad tracks for Kids Fun Day at the New Braunfels Railroad Museum. Kids get to run the model trains and be an engineer for a day from 10am to 2pm. Admission is FREE.

Grab a tube and a few friends and head down to the Comal or the Guadalupe River for a few hours of fun. Compare spots, read reviews, and learn more about different river rules on Yelp.

Spend a day in Gruene soaking in a century of history—and some of the best food in Texas at the Gristmill. When you’re done with lunch, hit the Gruene General Store around the corner for homemade fudge.

The shopping at San Marcos Premium Outlets was already superb—so says ABC’s The View, who named it the “third best place to shop in the world.” But this weekend it gets even better with the annual Back-to-School & Fall Preview Sale and savings of 25% to 65%, starting Thursday and lasting through Monday.

Make a splash at Schlitterbahn while you still have loads of sunlight and access to the entire park. Or, satisfy your sense of adventure at Texas Ski Ranch, where you can wakeboard, waterski, rock climb, and skateboard.

Come taste the quintessential Texas wines at Dry Comal Creek Winery. When you’re done, head just across the street and take a tour of the Texas Wine Trail’s finest master-planned community, Vintage Oaks, offering the best in Texas land, custom homes, and resort-style amenities.
