More positive signs for the real estate market: Metrostudy predicts home starts up 25 percent this year, according to the Dallas News.
Metrostudy is forecasting that “nationwide starts for homes and apartments this year will be the best since the recession shut down housing construction," and that spring will bring strong numbers. “In particular, “Houston starts will be up 25 percent this year for single-family,” they said.
Crowds at the International Builders’ Show this month in Las Vegas are also a strong indicator that the market is back. “For the last few years the big housing shows in Las Vegas and Florida have been a pale comparison of what they used to be,” said the Dallas News. “The 2014 show here in Vegas feels like the housing industry has gotten its mojo back.”
The National Association of Home Builders estimates there were as many as 80,000 builders, suppliers and contractors at the show.
Masterplanned developers like SouthStar Communities, which has communities in some of the most desirable cities in the nation, let alone in Texas—in the lakeside community of Lake Ridge between Dallas and Fort Worth, in the favorite Texas Hill Country community of Vintage Oaks, and in Bryan-College Station’s coveted King Oaks neighborhood—have seen these trends play out. Sales and traffic in each of these communities have been stellar over the last year, and new-home starts are up across the board.
- Vintage Oaks, the "fastest growing community in the Hill Country” for 2013 according to Metrostudy, reported a 40 percent increase in new-home starts. Over the course of 2013, construction commenced on 61 new homes in the luxury community. Vintage Oaks sold nearly 150 homesites in 2013 and is on pace for another great year, with several distinct homesite offerings and the upcoming launch of The Reserve, a whole new way to enjoy living at Vintage Oaks.
- Lake Ridge continues to lead DFW lakefront property growth, with incredible traffic and sales and construction on new homes throughout the community. Lake Ridge welcomed 195 new residents in 2013, triple the number from 2012. Today, there are 14 homes under construction, including five at the gated lake-view neighborhood of The Sanctuary. This offering represents some of the most coveted lake real estate in North Texas.
- The New Year has meant a new life for Texas land buyers in Bryan-College Station’s favorite community. King Oaks, offering scenic one-acre-plus properties in a coveted location close to Texas A&M yet in a private, secluded hamlet, has already sold 10 homesites so far in 2014.
