Please join us on Saturday, September 25 for a groundbreaking ceremony to honor the families of two war heroes and participate in a day of fun. Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. at The Bridges at Preston Crossings and will end at 4 p.m. Activities include horseback riding, fishing and a bounce house. Also, guests will get a chance to see Acme Brick’s “Baby Clay,” the world’s largest brick certified by the Guinness World Records, weighing in at 9,300 pounds and measuring 116 inches long.
The festivities are part of a groundbreaking on two new homes for wounded war heroes. The land and home donations are being made possible through Operation FINALLY HOME, an organization that honors wounded and disabled veterans and widows of fallen soldiers with new homes. The families receiving land and custom-built homes include war heroes Sergeant First Class Alan Hornaday and his wife, Sheila, as well as Sergeant Levi Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Katie. Sergeant First Class Hornaday is a veteran of the U.S. Army who sustained injuries in Baghdad in 2004 and Sergeant Wilson is a U.S. Army veteran who was also injured in Iraq in early 2008.
